I guess people can get fired at any time with or without cause.
Yes I understand that, but he was fired for not doing something specific and that just doesn't make sense considering they don't know which series they are continuing from, if any...

To err is human. Good management style says you blame someone else.

Halloween 3D Officially Bumped From 2012
Source: ShockTillYouDrop.com
March 7, 2012
Despite plans announced last year to bring Halloween 3D to theaters on October 26th of this year, ShockTillYouDrop.com has learned that the project has been bumped from this year altogether with no new date specified.
At one time, Dimension Film's Bob Weinstein was working with Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer to bring Halloween 3D to fruition. The duo behind Drive Angry 3D penned a script, but it was ultimately put on the back burner.

I'm not surprised at all actually. A lot of horror sequels are being put on the back burner. Hollywood just doesn't want to invest in films that are not "guaranteed" or whatever to rake in a shitl oad of money w/ the economy in the current state it's in. I guess I can understand that but as a hardcore horror fan there are movies I want to see, like a sequel to F13th's remake or even better a prequel. Instead they waste time and money imo on crap like the Paranormal Activity flicks. Obvioulsy, it's making them money and that's fine but it's just so depressing that Jason, Michael, & Freddy seem to have met their match: The movie going public.

I hate to say this, because I had been looking forward to a new installment of the Halloween franchise, but everything they put out for ideas was pure crap, so this is probably for the best.

This was reported on April 1st at Bloody-Disgusting
While some of you may think this is an April Fool's joke, it's not. Bloody Disgusting can exclusively report that Platinum Dunes is in talks to take the producing reigns on Dimension Films' forthcoming Halloween sequel.
Word has it that Michael Myers' return will not be in 3-D, nor will it instill the popular found footage model, which was originally being explored for the potential Friday the 13th sequel.
We're hearing that Platinum Dunes is out to writers and directors, which could mean that - and as much as we personally love them - My Bloody Valentine and Drive Angry duo Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier are no longer involved.
Platinum Dunes' Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are responsible for remakes of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Amityville Horror, Friday the 13th and A Nightmare On Elm Street, as well as originals like The Unborn and Horsemen. They're in post on the futuristic horror Vigilandia, as well as developing the latest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles adaptation.
What would you guys like to see Platinum Dunes do with the franchise? Continue Rob Zombie's story, do a fresh reboot, or what?

Even though it was on April Fools, the news itself seems to be legit.

Shock til you drop,
Let's offer a bit of clarification on a scoop that hit the web this afternoon. B-D reports that Platinum Dunes is "in talks" to score the Halloween franchise and work alongside Dimension Films in bringing Michael Myers back to the big screen.
Yes, we've heard this, too. Early last week, in fact. Alas, as is the nature of the biz, it's about being "first." I'd prefer to wait until there was solid news to report, but here is what we've heard after making a few calls.
Platinum Dunes is not the only company Dimension Films is taking the Halloween series to.
Essentially, Dimension is fielding interest from various companies...and Platinum Dunes just happens to be one of those contenders. So, while a Platinum Dunes-produced Halloween film could very well be a reality, it's all just "talk" right now.
Platinum Dunes, of course, gave us the remakes of A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, The Amityville Horror and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Pulling Halloween into their stable seems like a logical choice.
As for the "direction" that the series might take, I'm hearing that pitches are being fielded for a straight-up continuation of what Rob Zombie created and another reboot is being considered.
How likely is it that Dimension will partner with Platinum Dunes? Time will tell. They already have an established relationship having worked together on Amityville.

I think at this point I would want a fresh reboot. Rz's remakes had elements that I liked about them but I still feel like he ruined Michael Myers a bit w/ attemtping to explain so much about him. Took the creepy and scary factor away from him completely by doing that. I personally want Jason vs Michael Myers at this point but i think we have a better chance of seeing pigs fly.

If they're just gonna put out crap, I agree. A solid script would help, but I know nothing.

There's something kind of cool about one studio taking all these on. Just keep Marcus Nispel the fuck away from it. I really don't like his style at all.

Nothing can be any worse then Rob Zombie's Halloween II. That was THE franchise low in my book. I wouldn't mind them even giving Halloween the typical Platinum Dunes assembly line treatment, because I have enjoyed ALL of their interpretations of the classics. As long as we don't get any more white horse and non-masked lice infested beard hobo none sense I'll be fine with it.

Why can't they pay john carpenter a good amount to remake his own movie with all the resources at his disposal?
