I like the first remake, but I hated part 2 remake.

I still love the original though.  I like how Zombie explained more of the childhood of Michael.  Didn't like the new Dr Loomis.  Much of the script was more "white trashish" (not trying to be offensive) and more believable than the original.

The white trash element I think was to make it relatable for the audience since Rob Zombie seems to think everyone had a kind of white trash upbringing like he must have had judging from this. Not sure how well it worked....

No, but the whole " white trash " thing was just trash.

I am actually one of the few that actually really enjoys both RZ's Part 1 and Part 2. I thought for some of the characters they added some extra depth and even the background of Myers I found better and more believable then in the original series. The character of Annie was also a significant improvement in the remake series. I enjoyed the music that was played like during the scene when Brackett finds Annie's body and of course Love Hurts.

The Rob Zombie movie threw me a bit when it came out.  I don't know what I was expecting.  I wanted to like it, but with John Carpenter's being my favorite horror movie of all time, it was just too strange an experience seeing it that first time in the theater.  On later viewings, I came to appreciate it more; and I loved the sequel.

I prefer the second movie, because Rob Z. was allowed to take the character of Michael Myers and run with it, without being required to reference, or remake, the original Carpenter film.  That said, he does start Halloween 2 with a very long, extended dream sequence--something that should be illegal for a horror movie made in the 2000's.
