Freddy V gave me a good idea for a thread.
Pick two films, one that you love and that others hate.....then discuss the reasons, for and against

Glad I could be such an inspiration!
Anyways Rob Zombie's Halloween II I loved but most others hate. Another one is the Wolfman remake from last year. Rob Zombie's Halloween II was really good because of Tyler Mane's performance as well as Malcom McDowell, Brad Dourif, and a VERY nice surprising performance was Danielle Harris. The only thing I didn't really like about it was that they had a different kid playing Child Michael. The Wolfman (2010) I really loved for the performances of Anthony Hopkins, Benicio del Toro, and Hugo Weaving as well as the much improved story and background compared to the original.

I like Halloween 5. Really no idea why Myers fans hate this one so much. Even if it ain't your favorite, it provides what a Halloween movie is supposed to provide. I've defended this one in a few convos with fellow horror fans who hated on it. Nothin really special about it, but it gets bashed unjustly imo.
I've never been a big Freddy fan. I laugh when I get in discussions with ppl who rate Freddy over Jason or Mike. I seen all the NOES flicks, but not over n over like the other slashers. I can't say I hate em, but I don't get into em at all. Most ppl I talk horror/slasher flicks with got luv for Freddy that I just can't reciprocate.

Hm. Good idea for a thread.
Anyway, I'd say mine's The Exorcist III. I'm not entirely sure if it's hated by horror fans, I don't think it is. But, my opinion of it is that it's miles ahead of the first Exorcist. Better pacing. Much, much better acting. More memorable scenes. Better plot. Characters I cared way more about. Plus, c'mon, Brad Dourif playing a possessed psychopath is never a let-down.

I love AVP-R, everybody's most hated AVP movie, but me, I fuckin love it!! Wolf (the predator from AVPR) would kick all 3 of Rodriguez's Predators asses single handed!
I also like ANOES 2010, thought it was really good and a lot of other old school fans hated it...
I know there was only 2 picks, but I just gotta add 2 more that I also luv that most people hate
Jason Goes to Hell
Jason X

I do really like the Nightmare on Elm Street remake which more people hate it then like it let alone really like it on this forum anyways. I will always love the Robert Englund's Freddy Krueger but something I really do like about Jackie Earle Haley's version is it seemed like he had a lot of built up anger and emotion which did show just before Jesse's death in particular and a mostly serious Freddy is refreshing. Sure Haley's Freddy was very different from Englund's but to me it is like Marvel comics, there is the Earth-616 (default) universe and then there is the Ultimate universe where most characters have very different origins, etc. That is the case with Englund and Haley. Now on to the the actual movie itself. I'll admit that if keeping the idea that a guy and girl would survive (Nancy & Quentin) I would have rather have had Jesse and Kris be the two to survive. I enjoyed Thomas Dekker's perfomance and character much more then Quentin (Kyle Gallner). And even though Kris's actress Katie Cassidy was not the greatest she was better then Nancy's actress Rooney Mara who is about as interesting as my old English teacher. I would have Heather Langenkamp as Nancy over Mara any day of my life. Out of all the normal main characters Dekker's was the best. Normal meaning excluding Krueger/Haley.
