Rich,
I'm curious as to why you rated #4 so high and #5 so low? It's kind'a like the same movie...IMO anyway... Smiley

It isn't the same movie really. Halloween 4 is the closest sequel to the original. It did not have a whole lot of blood, and it did have a whole lot of suspense. Michael looked great. The atmosphere and fog in the streets was absolutely brilliant. Loomis was great. The characters were very realistic.

I think Halloween 5 falls flat in comparison to Halloween 4, but that doesn't make it a bad film. Halloween 4 is just one of those rare sequels that raises the bar too high. I see it as the "Terminator 2" or "Aliens" of the Halloween franchise.

Yeah, that makes sense. Smiley I like 4 better too. I see the fist two the same way though. Halloween is my horror movie and I thought part 2 was a letdown. (And I think they're basically the same movie too...different mood though and all.)

Halloween II was a very different film then Halloween. John Carpenter basically made a suspense film out of the original. When he wrote Halloween II, he made a business decision to write it to cater to the Friday the 13th demographic. By 1981, there have already been two Friday the 13th films and countless other slasher films that were full of blood. There was no way in hell, at the time, that they would have made Halloween II like the original. It would have been laughed at by audiences of the time.
