Friday the 13th - The Winter Hunt

December 2013. So it is Winter break and students are out of school. A gr.  p of nine friends decide to take a couple cars to rent a few cabins in Camp Crystal Lake for the weekend, beginning on Friday the 13th of course! Earlier on in the week, the news warned people of the area to minimize their travels due to a severe blizzard warning. The group of friends do not pay the news any attention. They proceed to the camp grounds. Once the group reaches the town of Crystal Lake, they stop in town to buy some groceries, condoms, beer, and other supplies for the weekend. While in town, they run into various local residents who warn them to stay away from the camp grounds, because there is a death curse. The cashier refers to the place as Camp Blood. Once again, the group ignores warnings to stay away from the place. They didn't listen to the blizzard warning. They didn't listen to the death curse warning. Will they, themselves, become warnings of the future?

Friday t

I do like the idea of a blizzard.  They could ice skate, ski, ice fish, naked hot tubbing etc. The blizzard would be the reason their car can't leave.  Would add some ideas for creative death scenes.  Even having a hunting group out in the wilderness would add some additional kills.

Dark Horizons reports today that Paramount is expected to begin work on a Friday sequel soon. It appears that to get Interstellar going Warners gave up rights to release a sequel to Paramount instead of sharing rights for the next 5 yrs to release the film. This does not impact the upcoming blu rays.

Aint it cool news also backs up the story above and says they have to do the movie within 5 yrs at Paramount. Rights revert back to WB after that.

Paramount should have no problem putting out 2 or even 3 Friday the 13th movies in a span of 5 years. In a span of 10 years New Line only put out 3 Jason movies. In the same time frame Paramount put out 8 Friday the 13th movies.

I'm just wondering how they'll pursue this. Supposedly the script they wrote was for the remake, if they're still going by that. But then again New Line isn't going to be involved in this. So are they going to do something different? They can try to ignore the New Line Fridays and start off after Jason Takes Manhattan. Or who knows, they might try to remake some of their previous films. So much possibilities!

I have a bad feeling about this , if they go back and try to pick up after the earlier Friday movies . To me , the safest and most logical thing would be to continue forward ... after the 2009 reboot .

I hope the details can be worked out !!!

They were planning to make a sequel to the remake, according to Wikipedia:
"On October 1, 2009, Warner Bros. announced that they planned to release the Friday the 13th sequel on August 13, 2010. Subsequently, Warner Bros. announced on December 10, 2009 that the sequel had been pulled from the August 13 release slot and is now listed as "TBD" (to be determined). Currently, Damian Shannon and Mark Swift are penning the sequel. On April 21, 2010, Fuller announced on his Twitter page that a sequel to the 2009 remake was no longer in the works, declaring it, "dead not happening". In a later interview, Fuller explained that the making of the 2009 remake was a joint effort by Paramount and New Line, who both own portions of the Friday the 13th franchise. With the economy down, both studios are limiting the films that they produce each year, opting for lower risks and higher rewards. As such, films like Friday the 13th Part 2 were put on hold, with the hope that when the economy bounced back, they would move forward with the next installment. Form explained that since neither studio wants to walk away from the production of a sequel and have it perform well without their involvement, thus making them look like "idiots", the chance of having one studio being the primary producing house was rejected. Form and Fuller also mentioned that the Friday the 13th sequel may be a 3‑D film, should it ever get the green light for production. On February 1, 2011, it was reported that a script for a sequel had been completed. Brad Fuller states that he is ready when New Line Cinema is ready."

So it may happen, now that there is no need for two studios to work it out. But I'm wondering if they might take it in a new direction after that.

Paramount has five years without anyone getting in their way to make new films. I hope for at least two new films, if not three. Two would be nice though.
