Yep, my local Wal-Mart doesn't have the new ones either (though they ARE selling Part 3 for $9.00 now).

FYE currently has them on sale for $12.99, which is where I got mine a few days ago.  That price is two bucks cheaper than Best Buy, which has them all for $14.99.

That's so weird. I'll check today and see if my local Walmart will be carrying them. It doesn't make sense that they wouldn't have them...

Nope, not at the walmart here in town either. Strange. Wonder why they don't have them, but they have them online, and they carried the others.

I'm going to wait until the results of the contest, and if I don't win, then I will probably get them at Best Buy. I am actually interested in the better high definition transfers, not to mention the documentary on Telekenisis on the Part 7 disc and all the Part 8 deleted scenes.

It wouldn’t surprise me (but would really piss me off) if new editions came out with new features from here.

I agree with what others have said about these deluxe editions – Paramount rushed them out to capitalize on the heat of the remake.  It is painfully obvious given these new releases.  I mean sheesh, couldn’t they have waited to get Kane, Lar, and John Carl in the same room together to get a really good commentary instead of the shitty one we got?  Obviously not.  They had to be done NOW.  The lack of extra features on Part 2?  Not a single feature on Part 2 that related to the film, when we know that people from that film would participate.  More people took part in the HIS NAME WAS JASON documentary than in the actual releases of the films, even though Farrands was involved in both!

I've never really cared for commentaries. To me its akin to watching a movie in the theater and having someone talk all the way through it lol

I don't either...unless its a movie I want to learn more about...and love just that much.

So, I do watch the commentaries on this...but only once.

I feel the same way Nightstalker.  Sometimes it's nice, like with the final cut of blade runner or "Spinal Tap"-which is like watching another movie, but most of the time it's just annoying.
