I prefer movies 1-8 and the remake, but are there going to be special editions of JGTH, JX, and FvJ as well? (don't throw rocks at me if the answer is somewhere buried in this monster thread
)

I just figured with the success of the remake they would be wanting to cash in and have Deluxe Non-Canon Sucktastic Editions of these films.

Doesn't New Line own those 3 films? Do they not care about the franchise as much as Paramount? Not flaming, just curious.

New Line really doesn't care, their bread and butter is Freddy. So, I don't think we will see Deluxe Editions for those 3 films.

Yeah, and truthfully, New Line has done a less than stellar job with
A Nightmare on Elm Street
in terms of DVD releases.
The older videocassettes featured uncut versions of #1 and #5, and neither surfaced on DVD. The boxset was much like the
Friday the
13th
boxset, with tons of interviews but no juicy footage. We know the footage is out there; consider that deluxe VHS edition
of the original NOES, containing deleted scenes that have never surfaced on any DVD release.
But yeah,
Friday the 13th
never did well for New Line so I doubt they care too much, but I'd love to see deluxe editions of their two films,
although their DVD releases weren't terrible. We got the unrated version and a commentary of Part IX and some documentaries and a commentary
on Part X.
Freddy vs Jason
got a huge two disc release anyway, so I doubt it needs another.
Here is what I'd want on the two New Line
Friday
films...
JASON GOES TO HELL: THE FINAL FRIDAY
--Unrated Director's Cut
--Deleted TV scenes
--Deleted workprint scenes
--Commentary with Kane Hodder, Adam Marcus, John Lemay, and Kari Keegan
--Behind the scenes footage including test footage (some of this was shown on the JASON X and HIS NAME WAS JASON documentaries)
JASON X
--Unrated Director's cut or at least a "Slashed scenes" with the cut gore, even if it isn't much
--Deleted scenes (including the opening Marine girlfriend and the "house of mirrors" fight between Jason and Kayem)
--Behind the scenes footage
--Commentary with Kane Hodder, Jim Isaac, and Lexa Doig
--Comments from David Cronenberg on his involvement

The New Line Cinema as we used to know them no longer exists. They have been completely brought out by Warner Brothers/Time Warner/AOL.
New Line Cinema, now, is nother more then a department of Warner Bros. They used to be sister companies, but now Warner is the parent company.
Warner/New Line owns Jason Goes to Hell, Jason X, Freddy vs. Jason, and the remake. Paramount was involved legally with the production of the remake because they used situations from Paramount's films which is considered intellectual property.
Since the sequel to the make it supposedly not going to use situations from any more of the films but be a direct sequel to the remake, I wonder if Paramount will still be involved. I kind of hope they are, because the films are just better when they are involved.

Oooh I wish have JGtH, JX and FVSJ being released in deluxe editions, that would be just outstanding!
Well, one day, maybe, New Line/Warner will wake up and consider what the fans want, and not only the profit they can make out of the movies... ok, ok, what the hell I'm talking about? Let's face it, I think that's difficult to happen

It might not be all that unlikely. They are going to start Friday the 13th Part 2 (PD) after their new Elm Street remake, so with Jason in the public eye, even films like Jason Goes to Hell, Jason X, and Freddy vs. Jason can be sold by the characters' names alone, especially FVJ.
I remember when the Jason X DVD first came out, for a while there is was THE best Friday the 13th DVD on the market content wise. As far as now, I think I would have to give that title to Friday the 13th (1980, uncut, Blu-Ray) and Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984, Delux Edition).
I still love that "Many Lives of Jason Voorhees" documentary.

I am still tortured by the wonder of whether or not
Part VIII
will feature UNCUT GORE! We never got an answer on that from anyone!
Kat, are you going to receive advanced copies of the damn things pretty soon?
