Review of Pt. 5 is up as well. Hopefully I'll have the review of Pt. 6 up in about a half hour.

I think the lack of interest has to do with the fact that nothing "new" is really happening with the re-releases other than a few more special features.
The re-release of "Friday the 13th" on blu ray and uncut was a much anticipated film. The blu ray disk was amazing, super clear picture with excellent sound. I have never seen the first one look so good, it was almost like watching a new film.
Part 2's release was ho-hum, nothing special and the film looked no different than the box set release.
Part 3 released in 3-D was just as good as the Part 1 release. Most people had never seen the film in 3D, and for those of us that did we hadn't seen it in 3D for over 20 or so years.
When you look at the 4, 5, and 6 re-releases you don't have anything really special about it. Including slashed scenes in the special features are nice, but the films will be no different than the box set releases.
Personally, I'm still debating buying the release of 4, 5, and 6. For me 1 and 3 re-releases were must haves do to the added content (included in the film) and the 3D novelty (I bought part 2 as well because amazon had a great deal when buying all 3). I can't justify re-buying 4, 5, and 6 when they will basically be the same exact thing we all bought when we got the box set.
That said, I will more than likely buy 2-8 on blu ray when amazon sells them at a drastic discount. Part 1 on blu ray was well worth the money, getting the films on DVD doesn't make sense because I already own every F13 on both VHS and DVD. LOL

True. I mean it will probably be 24-48hrs after release that the slashed scenes are on YouTube.
But what I meant was that I'm surprised people haven't posted anything about them releasing the mother in the tub scene

I'll see what I can do, as my scanner is currently not connected and in a totally different room lol.
I think they are pretty much like the other ones were.

You know, with none of the documentaries being longer then 10 minutes, the releases are starting to sound like a waste is you already own the box set. I'll be getting the Blu-Ray of the 2009 film, but I think I'll skip on the other new releases. I might get Final Chapter because that one needs a new transfer, but the rest of them look and sound great the way they are in the box. I don't feel the need for the update.

Based on Kat's reviews, it sounds like only part 4 may be worth getting. I'm just gonna stick to my good old box set for now.

Danny's commentary was a little annoying for Part 5. I wanted to learn new information, but he just kept joking or yelling things.
Part 4 is totally worth it, even though its lacking sound.

hello i am new to the site i would like to share some info about parts 7 and 8 deluxe edition dvds that is coming later in 09 it was a reply from dan farrands
daniel farrands who went through the paramount vaults for all 8 original friday films had this to say about the upcoming deluxe editions of the new blood and jason takes manhattan dvds
Actually, we did find several lost scenes from Part 7 that didn't make it on the original box set. They are mostly "character moments" involving Lar Park Lincoln and Kevin Blair, as well as an extended scene with Billy Butler and his date on their way to the "birthday bash." These are definitely included in the new Deluxe Edition.
We also found a few outtakes of Kane rising from the lake and a better-quality version of Melissa's "ax to the head" death scene.
Unfortunately most of the trims from Part 7 were destroyed in 1991. Believe me, we would have killed ourselves to create the ultimate/uncut version of 7. But what we did find will hopefully give fans a chance to see (albeit not the best quality) some of that holy grail material, and we were grateful to John Buechler and Fred Mollin for providing us with the early work tapes that they (thankfully) kept safe all these years. Had it not been for that material, the Part 7 disc would have been sorely lacking. So thanks to John and Fred!
On the upside, Part 8 has pretty much everything that was excised from the film -- lots of outtakes, alternate angles and a few never-before-seen moments. Scott Reeves, Jensen Daggett and Kane Hodder did an amazing commentary track that I know fans are going to love. The best feature (IMHO) is the "gag reel" that Rob Hedden and his team assembled for their cast & crew wrap party. We included it in its entirety -- including a "piece" of Kane's Jason you've never seen before!
Just wanted to fill in some of the gaps and to let everyone know that we put everything that exists on these DVDs. Paramount didn't "hold out" on you this time -- if it existed in their vaults, we put it on these Deluxe Editions.
So grab your machetes and enjoy!
Dan Farrands
also he said this
more info from dan farrands about 7 and 8
Each disc has a feature called "Slashed Scenes" that contains all of the lost scenes (including the "kills") that were found. Some of them (i.e., "Part 4") have director introduction and/or commentary, while others just play out on their own. The one thing we were careful to avoid was that annoying "split screen" effect from the box set where you were forced to watch both versions (unrated and rated) at the same time. We just went for simplicity and showed the scenes as they were. I wish we could have done a branching feature or some other way of incorporating the gore scenes into the film; alas, it wasn't possible for this edition.
As for "Part 8," there wasn't so much an "alternate ending" as there was an extra moment that can only be described as a poor man's homage to "A Nightmare on Elm Street" involving Young Jason trying to escape from Big Jason's mouth! Has to be seen to be believed (and seeing it, you can understand why they cut it!) ... but yes, it's on there!
- Dan
love your site Kat i hear the slashed scenes for 2,3 and 5 were lost is why they didn't make it on the dvds/blu-rays also kat i liked your reviews for 4-6 do they all have the holographic slipcovers like 1-3 dvds had and also are you going to review part 3 blu-ray since it has bonus features and i hear the 3D effect is better thanks

Yes, I too am in contact with Dan, I don't know how many years I've known him for now. I think since I was....at least 13 years. WOW, didn't realize it had been that long.
Its funny though, because he and I have been writing one another about the DVDs recently, and that response of his you posted almost sounds like what he would have written me back.
But no, I cannot review the Blu-Ray editions, because I do not have a Blu-Ray player, otherwise I would have reviewed those versions as well

Haha, I think I know what he's talking about! Kane has spoken about the this at conventions before. Its great they will include it, cause I remember Kane saying "God, I hope they don't have that to put on a DVD"
