Special Editions for release in 2009
«

A lot of us already know that 1-3 are coming out on DVD...again...
But someone here (sorry I cannot remember who) asked me if I had heard about the new DVDs for 4-6 coming out. Which I had not.
Shocktillyoudrop.com has posted some info for this:

Keeping the Friday the 13th excitement going (2009 is truly the year of Jason's return), Paramount Home Entertainment is currently prepping special editions of Friday the 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter, Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning and Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives for release later this year. I can't delve into exact special features just yet as they're still being worked out, however, I can tell you that they will include special "fan" commentaries.
The inseparable team of Adam Green (Hatchet) and Joe Lynch (Wrong Turn 2) paired up to chat about The Final Chapter. On A New Beginning expect to hear Steve "Uncle Creepy" Barton, of DreadCentral.com, and horror journalist Staci Layne Wilson muster up some love for the Jason-less sequel. And yours truly joined Barton to bestow our appreciation for Jason Lives (my favorite of the series).
I talk more about the recording, which took place in Santa Monica last Friday, in my blog right
here
. Paramount's special editions of the first three films street on February 3rd. Click here for artwork!
They should have just waited and released another box set. I get so annoyed having to buy copies of everything lol.
ADDED:
I got this in email a week ago, and didn't see it till today! oopsy! Figured I'd add it to the first post.

This reminds me of the double dipping thread that someone started...I will buy any and every Friday that comes in my path. Even if it ends up being 10 copies each. LOL!!
A little off topic, I am most excited for the uncut My Bloody Valentine coming out in 7 days!! I have been waiting a long long time to see those missing minutes of kills.

Same here.
I'll buy the Blu Ray Uncut version of Friday the 13th, and I'll but the Special Edition Part 3 in 3D, but I'm staying away from Part 2 since it's not uncut or in the blu ray format (from what I can tell it's going to be exactly like the last release except with new artwork). I assume the remaining films will not be released in blu ray or uncut which makes them no better than the other copies they have released. Having a commentary is great but not worth 20 to 30 bucks when I already own the films.

Nope, money is tight and I just cannot justify buying a second copy of the films no matter how much I love them. They only one I will consider bying is Part 3 if actually released in 3D the rest I can just watch my boxset if so desired.

I had no idea who you were with the new name LOL. Took me a minute to figure it out haha.
Anyhow, about Pt. 3 being in 3D...I thought I heard a long time ago that it was nearly impossible or, maybe that it cost too much money to change it into the other 3D format. So I'm sorta surprised its being released in 3D.
Then again, I know nothing of the process, so maybe it really isn't that hard

That was a good thread Myers1978!
Kat, I heard that too, but they did manage to do it somewhat on that version I have with the plug in glasses. It works just like it did in the theater actually. The 3D in the theater wasn't top notch anyway.
As far as part 2 goes, it does say deluxe edition and I thought there was a lost tales extra on that one too. Who knows, they may have found the double impalement impact scene. Or how cool if they found the scene of Paul's death?? I have a still of it and I'm intrigued. Either way, I'm def getting that one too.

I did a little more research and the only thing Part 2 has going for it are the special features (the 3 films being released seem to be tied together through the special features). I still don't think Part 2 is offering enough for me to pick it up, especially when you consider they will more than likely be releasing Pt 2 on Blu Ray. I'm being Pt 1 and Pt 3 for sure.

A Special Edition of pt 3?
I've got to pick that one up, will it be on Region 2 though? I can still buy an R1 DVD, but i'd prefer R2.

Luckily I'm a sucker for double dipping even if its for one special feature and also other than the original and Jason Lives I don't have the rest of the Fridays on dvd. So I guess that this is a must buy for me.......sadly this is all the versions of the films who have seen already.
Maybe, its not worth it.
