I prefer my horror darker and more serious
I am too. If I want to laugh, I look Jim's Carrey or Charlie's Chaplin movies.
And from the horror I expect only the horror and should not try to prove to me that the humor in the horror that is so great.

Yeah we definitely have different tastes in comedy lol... Comedy I like (besides slasher comedy) is Cheech & Chong, Hang Over, Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler, Seth Rogan, and stuff like that and oh yeah, can't forget all my favorite hood comedies like Friday, How High and stuff like that too...
See, Cheech and Chong are my favorites of all time, along with Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor's old stuff. Movies like half baked are also faves. I used Jerry Seinfeld because it wasn't too different a name from Jason Voorhees, kinda had a semi-soundalike pattern.

No need to apologize, we're speaking the same language when it comes to movies!

Not only were they trying to acknowledge the other series, but maybe they were trying to place Chucky in the same Universe as them.

How in the heck can you not have comedy in a Chucky movie? Killer "My Buddy" doll? The whole concept of the movie is comedy in and of itself. I find it so unbelieveable that a doll could overpower anyone in a struggle. Just pick the damn thing up and dropkick it, or throw the damn thing, like seriously what does Chucky weigh, 20 lbs at maximum?
Oh great, if I keep running my mouth, Chucky's gonna kill me in my sleep so I'll stop. Don't get me wrong, I love the Child's Play movies, but they're not exactly believable and that just makes it funny to me. They've also turned up the humor switch a notch with each additional sequel.
My point being, even if the scripted humor was left out, it's still funny no matter what.
