Well, there's a bit of good Yuletide news to cheer me up. Nevertheless, it's still not official despite the name and despite what Blake had said about it, so take anything from it (including this poster) with a grain of salt.
Me too
Anyhow, the new webmaster I've spoken with a few times, nice fellow

I think they cant remake Friday because every film has a different director, writer, producer, jason, locations, cast and crew. The only way I can see to do a remake is by choosing a film, like TFC for example.

I wouldn't say that, the best Jason movies were 1-4, and even if they go back that far and make Jason human again it could be a better movie. As long as they don't try to do it the way Zombie did it with Halloween it'll be better than that remake.

: A little update for you Jason Voorhees freaks out there. We received word that Platinum Dunes' remake of Friday the 13th will now shoot on April 21 in Austin, Texas. No casting has been announced thus far, but expect some updates once the untitled David Goyer projects gets rolling. This shouldn't effect the planned February 13, 2009 release date by New Line Cinema. The remake, which will be directed by Marcus Nispel, will focus on Jason Voorhees -- who will wear the mask and kill -- and keep the famous setting of Crystal Lake.
I'm wondering why in Texas instead of Canada...Too bad too, I'll be somewhere up in Canada around then most likely, its a shame they aren't filming in Toronto or something

A very vague description of pre-production artwork from BD:
Quote
Last week I visited Platinum Dunes, the production company behind such remakes as TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, AMITYVILLE HORROR and THE HITCHER. While there I was treated to something I had not expected, something that nearly knocked me on my ass - I saw the potential art designs for the new Jason Voorhees, along with the possible poster art for FRIDAY THE 13!
What I saw was all temp, so the art design still needs to be approved, but what I was shown pretty rad. There were three different pieces of art lined up across the wall, two being a close-up of Jason Voorhees' face, the other a full body shot. They all had a very harsh green tint to them, which gave all the images an unsettling (and watery grave) look. Unfortunately I'll be destroyed if I go into details, but I'm quite sure it's going to please every one of you.
It's still insanely early to judge, but it looks like Platinum Dunes is on the right track and from what I hear this one is going to be BRUTAL. Keep your eyes posted here for more info in the coming weeks, maybe you'll catch a sneak peak at the art yourselves?
Naturally, Bloody-Disgusting is basically the shilliest outfit in the horror business this side of Fango, so undoubtedly they'll have a hand in marketing this abomination.

Casting Call for Jason Voorhees
Quote
JASON VOORHEES: Caucasian, fair complexion, Late 20's, Early 30's, stunt man. He is thin, lean, and cut from living off the land and residing in the forest around Crystal Lake...
YOUNG JASON VOORHEES: Caucasian, fair complexion, older, smaller, kid to play 9 or 10 years of age...
In other words, they're going with the 'lol, the imbecile survived in the woods for twenty years' theory for this film.
Jesus, I've had it up to here -- that would be my neck -- with the inbred-Deliverance-hillbilly meme.
Wrong Turn
sucked, and so will this.

One thing I'm confused about. People keep stating that it has been confirmed that its going to take place after the hospital attack in the beginning of Pt. 4, but before he goes after Tommy...while others are stating that its a remake of the first 4 films, and others stating that its a complete remake that has nothing to do with any of the other films, just Jason.
I'd like to know WHERE they have heard that it was confirmed from.
