In a surprising but compelling pairing, Drive and Pusher director Nicolas Winding Refn has reportedly teamed up with American exploitation icon William Lustig to produce a prequel to Lustig's 1988 feature Maniac Cop.

Says Lustig in an interview with Daily Gridhouse:

It's going to be more a prequel than anything else, I am really excited to come back to this world especially since Nick is going to be a part of it... [Nicolas Winding Refn] has been talking to us about it for a while now and I had an idea that would work so we're going to do it.

Didn't they cover all of the back story in part 1 and 2? wtf is it going to be about if cordell isnt an undead cop killing everyone? him getting stabbed in the shower? seen it.
