The reason it was complete shit was because the producers refused to continue the rotted look from the New Blood.  Jason Pt. 7 Unmasked In the Crystal Lake Memory book one of the effects artists talks about how he wanted to follow John Carl's look because they didn't want that. cough...Barbra Sachs....cough.

After seeing part 7 in my mind I just figured after being burned and then set under crystal lake again his face just deteriated even more to look well like shit. But yeah in reality the sfx crew got cheap or whatever.

To be honest that's the one Jason movie I wished they would've kept his mask on. We all want to see Jason's face at some point but in that film the payoff just laughable. I didn't mind the slimy suit but that face...oh my.

I think the two movies where Jason had the best look we could clearly see were Pts 4 & 7. The makeup jobs in those two movies were astonishing.

I'd liked part 6 too which carried over well into part 7. Yeah, but those are the best makeup jobs.

Pt 3 had a freaky look too. Pt 6 I liked but it was so dark u couldnt really see it much. I'm with u folks though. I wanted them to continue the look from Pt 7 when they did Pt 8.

If I remember correctly in the CLM book thr guy who was doing the model for Jason's look in JTM said he was whistling a funeral song. Why not bring back the Pt 7 look? Did Sachs really hate it that much? If so then that bites because I think it was one if the best faces Jason ever had.

Same here I absolutely love reading about history behind movies like Jason. I heard they're working on a book like CLM for ANOES. If I could I'd call it Springwood Nightmares.
