THIS IS THE JET'S HOUSE, BITCHES!

« on: January 25, 2012, 11:43:00 AM »

Fear not, Ronny Yu-Suck hasn't taken over the Hatchet franchise and put Ken Kirzinger in the role of Victor Crowley! This is just a simple question I want to put out there based on a simple, but sad, truth: Sooner or later, Kane Hodder is not going to be able to physically do the things needed to effectively play Victor Crowley and is going to have to retire. Would you want to see the series continue after Kane's retirement? Or would you want Victor to ride off into the sunset with his progenitor? Would who the potential replacement was make a difference in your vote?

To me it would depend on his replacement, it would have to be someone who could make us feel like we were looking at the same old Victor Crowley. With Jason or Michael Myers you can pretty much tell without looking at the credits when they've shifted to someone else, but if they had someone who could do it almost seamlessly, that would make me more likely to keep seeing these movies sans Kane. I could see Tyler Mane as Victor Crowley if it came before he got too old to do it.

What about Mears? I thought he did a hell of a job as Jason in the remake. For me, right now, him or Mane are the two guys I would like to see honor the role of Victor Crowley if/when Kane can't do it anymore.

Hadn't really thought about Derek Mears, but he would make an awesome Victor as well. The main problem I see with both of them is they're both too big. Mears and Mane both tower over Hodder, so Victor would still be substantially different. Brad Loree might be good, though this would require a lot more acting than playing Michael Myers, or even playing Jason, would, and we've not seen much of that out of Loree.

Loree is a hippie. I met him lol. Dude doesn't ever wear any shoes. That's beside the point. I guess he would do ok. Too bad George Wilbur is old as hell. Loved his intensity in Curse of Michael Myers.

But as far as Mears and Mane, couldn't they just use camera trickery to make them not look so tall? Or hey, what about Andrew Bryniarski. That dude is cool as hell and he played a great Leatherface in the remakes....

Bryniarski would make a good choice, since there are a lot of similarities between Leatherface and Victor Crowley.

LOL at the image of Victor Crowley running barefoot in the swamp.

LOL that would be some comedy. I would catapult whoever took over for Crowley into horror legend status if it's one of the people we mentioned. To play more than one horror icon is a hell of an accomplishment in our little world.

Another question going forward...kill off Danielle Harris's character and move forward with new blood or have her character continue on as the main protagonist?

I would keep Danielle on for at least a while longer, maybe make Mary Beth the Loomis of the series, but not run her too long. Sooner or later, she has to meet her demise. Loomis got 5, give her at least 5.

Yeah I guess with the whole ghost thing, Victor just continuously comes back no matter how many times they kill him, so her deal would be to try and find ways to kill him forever. I suppose that could work.

Maybe have her sacrifice herself in the last one to end Victor forever. That would be a fitting end to the series.

Honestly, given the friendship between Kane & Adam Green, I highly doubt he'd bother to continue the series if he couldn't have Kane.

But I think the series should end after awhile. I personally hated all the backstory brought into Pt. 2

Adam Green isn't doing the third one though. Of course he gave his blessing, but he's not really involved...

Really? I didn't realize that. Hum, I'm not sure then! Haha. I just assumed from some of his posts on Facebook that he was involved

Probably executive producer and of course he gets credited for the original characters. Someone from the original Hatchet crew is directing the movie (and I'm too lazy to look it up right now).

I have faith in a new Hatchet sequel without Adam Green in the director's chair, especially if it's someone whom he has worked with since the first one. As far as Kane Hodder, I don't think that he would continue the "series" if Green left. I'm not sure if the series will get as far as 4+ sequels but if it ever does I'm sure that it'll change hands quite a few times but I'm hoping that it'll end with a bang.
