When the first Friday was released I was a manager/projectionist at a local theatre.  I previewed it the night before it opened nation wide.  I was still at that theatre for Fridays 2 & 3.  I was lucky enough to see 'em all the first day they opened.

I saw Jason Takes Manhattan on VHS. A friend of mine had that and The New Blood recorded off of Swedish television. I asked him which was the better one and he said to go for Jason Takes Manhattan, as it was gorier. I became a fan over night and Jason has been my favorite slasher/horror icon ever since. Some of my best memories as a kid was having sleepovers with my friend, watching these movies for the very first time late (like 2 o'clock at night) during the summer holidays and recording them on VHS.

I saw it on VHS.  I used to ride my bike to the video rental store.  They'd have to call my mom & she'd have to give me permission (since I was like 6 or so)....My sister remembers asking my mom (after Barry & Claudette dies in the original) is that it? I think the final chapter was the most watched on though...still love the Jarvis Sandwich!

Part III and V were the first ones I came across. I don't remember which came first, though.

My two older brothers rented them on VHS. With Part III, I only remember watching the first 5 or so minutes, after the credit sequence. Some of the store owner scenes.

I remember watching lots of Part V in bits.

Part VI was the first one I watched all the way through.

She was probably just pissed because she spent her hard-earned paper route money to rent what she thought was the shortest movie ever and your mom was giving her crap to get her all fired up, until the real movie started after the opening credits. It was probably the most agonizing minute and a half of her life.

I love that most of us saw them first on VHS.

I had cool parents who let me rent whatever I so chose. So of course, at 8/9 years of age, given the choice, I ran straight for the horror section of the video store. I've so many friends who grew up on all those classic Disney films... I must admit I still haven't watched many.

Friday the 13th though, as a kid those were especially close to my heart, they were so much wacky fun to re-watch repeatedly. I think because I saw the iconic scare at the end of the first film when I was still decently young, it explains why even to this day, that moment totally unnerves me!

Saw them for the first time on VHS (not long after we bought our first VCR...man was that thing huge) when I was around 7-8 years old, so 1985-86ish.  At the time, only the first five were out and I remember finally convincing my parents to rent them for me after months of practically begging.  I still remember going to our small, local video store and always walking over into the horror section and the F13 VHS boxes catching my eye.  The best I remember, I think I rented Part 3 first, since I sorta remember thinking that it had the coolest looking cover.  After that, I can't remember what order I watched them in.

Obviously, back then, regular TV, video games, etc were much more tame than what a lot of kids are exposed to today.  So, these movies were quite the shock/scare to a youngster.  Thinking back, it was all so much fun though.  Seeing Jason chasing after "the final girl" at the end with that pounding F13 music in the background...it really could get a 7-8 year old's heart racing.  It's kind of sad that as you get older, these movies lose the scare factor, but they bring back good childhood memories each time I watch one.  I think that's the reason that all of us here still enjoy these movies so much.  Lots of nostalgia there.

I saw mine in the movie theatre in 2009 with the remake. I was not into Friday the 13th at all growing up because I was so into Freddy. I had a buddy want me to go and I did so, though not really wanting to. That night I fell in love with Jason and the Friday the 13th films. If I had never went, I would never have watched all the originals. Simply cause of the remake and how much I loved it, I am now a HUGE fan of the Friday the 13th series and have seen them all. Who says a remake is not good for anything? That was a rhetorical question lol
