Does it seem like the remake takes different parts from the original series?  The underground tunnels=similar to part 8 where they are in the sewer? The brother looking for his lost sister=Rob looking for Sandra?, anyone else see similarities?

It really bums me out that they haven't moved forward with a sequel to this yet. For all the hate that some people give this movie, to me, it's still better than 9, X, and possibly 3,5, & 8. Derek Mears did a great job. I hated Jared Padalecki (I'm not looking up the spelling...he can fuck himself) but the chicks were hot, kills were decent, and the movie was a good time. It made money. There's no reason this shouldn't move forward when you have stupid ass movies like "The Devil Inside" getting the support it gets. What a bunch of crap.

I feel the same way too. I would rather a new Friday the 13th film then another stupid possession film. This remake did so good that it just doesn't even make sense why they are not working on a new one.

Does Hollywood do much that actually makes sense?

No point in this movie. I'm very anti remakes. Think it's just a lack of imagination and a quick payday Angry. Not just this moviie but all remakes/reboots whatever you call them. Nothing beats the originals or some of the sequels.

After watching this I can say it wasn't the worst remake I saw butit wasn't any good either jmo.

I think the big four franchises (Friday the 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, and Child's Play) are at the point where they are so iconic that it doesn't really matter where in what series a new film fits. Everyone knows the history and backstory of these characters. They can make basically stand alone films based on the characters/series and I would be okay with that. Basically that is what Friday the 13th 2009 was. It was a very good movie in the series.

The originals were in a class by themselves.
