THIS IS THE JET'S HOUSE, BITCHES!

I think a big problem I had with this one was the obsession with weed. I get that most of the Friday the 13th's had marijuana and drug use, but they tried to go over the top with it. A little too modern for my tastes. And yeah, we needed the original music.

I'll be watching this tonight for sure.

Yeah, they did take almost the porn formula to this (sex ever x number of minutes) and apply it to weed, more than a little over the top. But, Mears was an excellent Jason and overall the movie was very good, looking forward to this one tonight.

i didn't think this was the best reinvention ever, there could have been more to it but it makes a really good friday the 13th movie and had a great 80's slasher throwback feel to it, i would say this and the texas chainsaw massacre were the only good remakes platnum dunes pulled off in my opinion

Some parts of it were good and I liked Jason's new look but there are some things that just bother me such as the music and the over the top marijuana usage. I just kept rolling my eyes and said "Really?" But I like dhow they added some twists to the story and added their own imagining, however, it didn't really feel like Friday.

I wasn't bothered by the pot smoking. That happened in the first five and part 7. I don't remember if anyone lit a joint in Part 6.

No one did.  They just got murdered.

This one is superior to anything after Part VII.

For me, I enjoy 2009 more than any installment past Friday 5.  I was just glad to see Paramount getting involved again since New Line made a joke of the Franchise.

I can't stand anything after 7.  They're not even fun in a bad movie way. Jason Pt. 3

For ME, the remake was a fresh start on a good idea.  I just wish they had the sense to keep the ball rolling and make a sequel.

I rated the remake a 7 in the other thread.  It'd be a 6.5 probably, if we could vote halves.  It's not a bad movie, but is a bit long (especially the "Killer Cut"), and, as far as Friday the 13th movies go, doesn't really feel like a Friday the 13th movie.

For one thing, the music is missing.  This bothered me about the Nightmare on Elm St. remake as well.  If you have a perfect score that's been used all throughout the series, there's no reason to discard it for a boring soundtrack that doesn't stay with you at all once the film is over.

I also don't think the remake does enough in referencing the legend of Jason.  And the beginning, while intense and a good opening overall, is too dis-jointed, cramming too much into a short amount of time.

I especially agree with the comments about the soundtrack.  What's F13 without the trademark ch-ch-ch-ha-ha-ha, which was only used with the scene where Jason gets the mask?

This was a great reinvention, but I hope they make a sequel and give it some Manfredini music.
